The end of the school year is a special time. It’s all about getting closure to the year that your students have spent at your school. It’s just as important at the end of the year to provide closure to the year as it was to build relationships at the beginning of the year. The good news is you can find many ways to finish off the school year in ways that give students that closure, but also maintain your sanity! In my opinion these types of activities aren’t fluff. Daily Math Skill Review
Often, the time for review for district or state tests rolls around at the same time of year that you’re ready to stop introducing new topics. It feels like you’ve taught so much and you’re not sure if the students remember everything. At this point in the year I just want an activity that we can do everyday that I know will review concepts for students.

The end of the school year is full of mixed emotions for me. I’m excited for summer and at the same time I start to have separation anxiety from my students. My classes are usually small because I teach math lab classes and I really get attached to my kids. End of the year activities in the math classroom
The school year is winding down for me, and for my students it marks the end of their junior high experience. I have a hard time with the end of the year. I get sad knowing that it’s the end of my time with these students. I’ve enjoyed getting to know them and seeing them grow over the year. I’ve loved our inside jokes and the silly idiosyncrasies that every class tends to have. I wish we had more time together- there’s always more I would have liked to have done. And yet, they’ve worked so hard this year and I know they’re ready for the next chapter in their schooling. And I’m ready for a break to recharge my batteries.
So if the school year is going to end, how can I make sure we go out in style? How can we close out the year in a way that honors the students’ learning time, celebrates our time together, and helps us all keep our sanity? For the end of this school year, I want to share my four main goals with you, some fun end of the year activities, and show you what the last few weeks looked like in my classroom.
