Idea Galaxy is the home of Rachel and Theresa, two educators who love geeking out about learning. Together we have 25 years of teaching experience in math, language arts, and ESL/ELL.
We focus on making the content we’re teaching accessible to all students, especially those who are second language learners, have IEPs, or just need more time to learn.
We’re both avid readers, and especially enjoy studying the process and psychology of learning. We look at the classroom as the ultimate lab for a mad scientist. We love brainstorming a solution to a challenge, implementing it, measuring the results of the adjustment, and making further adjustments. We’re just nerdy like that.
Rachel wishes she could wear a new pair of socks everyday. She loves new socks, almost as much as she loves her New England Patriots or all things tattoo (we’ve been binge watching past seasons of Ink Masters and her Insta feed is full of many artists’ latest tattoos).
Theresa loves learning everything there is to learn about random topics. This past summers’ obsessions were renovating vintage RVs (she’s spent exactly one night of her life in an RV), and urban gardens (she just successfully killed the bean plant our 4 year old planted at preschool).
Our goal on this website is to create a space that celebrates the art of teaching and learning. Here we share the results of our experiments, record our learning, and ask you to join our reflections.
After years of creating for our own students we opened the Idea Galaxy Store on Teachers Pay Teachers in June of 2015 with a variety of games and interactive activities for seventh and eighth grade mathematics. Our educational products reflect our unique background and feature scaffolding and supports so all students can be successful. We look forward to connecting with you!
